My father called today to let me know that Fuzzy was still catching mice. Apparently he and my niece had been outside taking down Christmas lights when she backed over Fuzzy’s memorial statue. Dad explained to her what it was and then set it upright. It was then he noticed the small dead mouse a [...]

Feathers

There are feathers all over my house. Little gray downy ones, small white and brown ones. They puff up when the heat comes on or slide out from under furniture as I walk by.
Let me backtrack. This morning as L and I were playing on the couch we simultaneously heard the rapid fire “ack-ack-ack” of [...]
Etta Chicken

We replaced the chickens formerly known as Polly and Esther with Henrietta. Etta, as she’ll be known unless Henry proves to be a better fit, is a black and white stripped Plymouth Rock hen. She’s a quick little bird. Has to be to get around Louise to the food.
Coq au vin, anyone?

We replaced our departed Thelma Chicken with Polly and Esther a sweet little pair of chicks we picked up at the feed store. We kept them indoors the first several weeks until they were old enough to go outside and join Louise in the coop. (Do not try this at home, children. Chicks stink.)

I guess he figured we wouldn’t do much digging there.
We’d [...]
Only cat

Jones is loving being an only cat. He spent a day or so wandering around the house and coming up to us every so often as if to say, “Hey, has anyone noticed the grey haired old fart is missing?” Then he settled in and claimed every lap in the house as his personal property.
He [...]

Lots of little news – time to catch up!
We had several friends for dinner on Saturday and L was in rare form. He’d had a few very (very) short naps and was truly ready for bed when his fan club showed up. He immediately tried to rally for the papparazzi and then crashed hard. Three [...]
